Chip Yawney

Chip founded A Cut Above, LLC in February of 2006. He discovered his passion for woodworking while renovating a historic building he owned with several partners.

Chip has always been committed to quality and had an eye for detail. His years in the information systems industry helped develop these skills and provided significant management experience.

He loves what he does and it shows in his work.

Mike Brady

Mike was born and raised in Maryland. He was a production manager at Niermann Weeks for several years and has significant finishing experience. He has been employed in several roles in the fabrication of high quality furniture and woodworking.

Mike joined A Cut Above in December of 2008 and is currently responsible for the finishing operation in the shop. In addition to operating the finishing department his responsibilities include all aspects of millwork, fabrication, and assembly.

He is a focused on doing things right and is a valued member of the team


Brian Yawney

Brian joined A Cut Above in June of 2007 and has spent the last two summers assisting with millwork in the shop. His main responsibility is as student and member of the drama and music departments at Atholton High School.

While on the job at A Cut Above he assists with millwork and finishing preparation.

Bob Cherry

Bob is a skilled and avid woodworker. He joined A Cut Above in 2006 and helped complete several important projects during its first 2 years. He continues to pitch in during busy periods.

Bob has been a member of The United States Army Field band since 1997 and is a member of the TUSAFB Brass Quintet.

His music and military background set high standards for quality at A Cut Above.

While it is difficult to get out of the shop, A Cut Above is committed to participate in community projects.

In 2008 we participated in Habitat for Humanity in Baltimore.
