Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST VISIT WITH YOU?

A: We ask that you have a general understanding of what you would like to accomplish. For example, will your project be primarily functional, such as a media cabinet or home office, or will it be more esthetic, such as a display cabinet or bookcase? If you have any pictures, we'd love to see what you like and don't like. When we first meet, we will discuss your objectives for the project both in terms of its use and esthetic qualities. We'll want to get to know your personal tastes and preferences, as well as any limitations you may have.

Q: HOW LONG WILL THIS MEETING LAST?

A: These visits can range from 60 - 90 minutes, depending on how in depth your project is. If you are short on time, we will do our best to work within your schedule.

Q: HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO CONSTRUCT MY PROJECT?

A: This depends on the scope of the project. Lead time from completion of design can range from 90-120 days; however larger, more detailed projects may take longer.

Q: HOW LONG DOES THE INSTALLATION PROCESS TAKE?

A: For a project that is fully built into a wall 10-14' wide, it can take as little as two days to install. Once again, it depends on the complexity of the project.

Q: HOW MUCH DOES CUSTOM CABINETRY COST?

A: The cost will be dependent on the types of materials you choose and the detail and size of your project.

Q: WHAT IF I AM UNSURE WHAT TYPE OF MATERIALS TO USE?

A: During our first meeting, we will discuss the tradeoffs of choosing one wood specie over another, the types of trim and moldings that can be used, and how these choices can affect the price of the project. We want you to be an educated consumer and we will use our initial time together to answer your questions about the process. To browse some samples before we meet, you can visit our blog.

Q: DO YOU HAVE CUSTOM COLORS OR CAN YOU MATCH A COLOR?

A: Absolutely. We are in the business to create custom woodwork and are able to match your new project to an existing piece, or we can work with you to develop a custom color that will complement what you already have in your home. We have a variety of existing stain and paint colors for you to choose from.

Q: DO YOU HOUSE ANY SAMPLES OF YOUR WORK?

A: Yes, an important step in the process is for you to visit our shop and office. Here, you can see a wide variety of sample doors, molding profiles, stains, and other cabinetry elements and choose the style and features best suited to your custom project.

Q: WHERE IS YOUR OFFICE LOCATED?

A: We are located at 10630 Riggs Hill Road, Unit E, Jessup MD, 20794. Our hours are Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:00pm.

Q: WHERE IN MARYLAND DO YOU CURRENTLY OFFER YOUR SERVICES?
